10 Amazing Football Training Tips From An Expert Coach.

Introduction

The road to being a pro footballer can be quite challenging. You have to keep improving physically and mentally to reach the very top. In case you’re looking for some help, here’s a list of 10 useful football training tips from personal football training experts to help you take your game to the next level.

Football Training Tips

  1. Work on Skills with Both Feet: Not everyone can be ambidextrous, but you can work on your weaker foot until you’re good enough to make passes and take shots without needing to bring the ball to your strong foot. While many footballers barely use their weak feet, coaches prefer players who can use both feet. We’ve seen so many scenarios where a defender couldn’t clear the ball properly, a midfielder couldn’t make the final pass or a striker couldn’t convert a chance because the ball fell to their weak feet. Working on both feet will give you an edge over other players.

  2. Practise Ball Control at Home: Footballers who have good ball control usually have hugely successful careers. We’ve seen so many of them from Dimitar Berbatov to Riyad Mahrez. To improve your ball control, practice with the ball at home. Don’t wait to get to training before practising ball control. The more you practice, the better you become. Juggle with both feet and try to control the ball with different parts of your body including your chest, head, and knees.

  3. Study other Players: Thanks to YouTube, you can watch clips of established players in your position and try to learn a thing or two from them. Even pro players admit that they still watch clips of other players to try and learn.

  4. Dedicate Yourself: It’s true, you can be indoors playing FIFA or chatting with friends on social media. But none of those activities is as rewarding as putting in the time and effort to improve your skills and physical attributes. From Freddie Adu to Hachim Mastour, we’ve seen so many players who showed early promise but ended up having disappointing careers. Aside from injuries, the difference between a player who makes it and a player who doesn’t is hard work and dedication.

  5. Train at a Game Realistic Tempo: You need to train as if you’re in a game. If you’re training with other players, be as competitive as you would in a real game. Don’t train with the handbrake on. You need to get used to the fast-paced tempo of a real game and you can’t achieve that if you’re simply jugging around.

  6. Set Goals for Yourself: What do you want to achieve this year? Do you want to get a schoolboy scholarship at a Premier League club or are you hoping to be promoted to the first team? Don’t just leave things to chance. Set your goals and work towards achieving them.

  7. Take Part in 1 on 1 Football Coaching Sessions: Most coaches focus on tactics and teamplay. If you want to improve as a player, much of the work is left to you. This is where a 1 on 1 football coaching session comes in. With a personal trainer to help you work on your skills, you have a coach whose sole purpose is to make you a better player.

  8. Apply Your Skills in Elite Football Coaching Sessions: Do you think you’ve got what it takes? How about you show your skills in elite football coaching sessions? If you’re not sure how to get into one, you can sign up for our elite football coaching sessions at Fusion football.

  9. Learn from Mistakes: You’ll make mistakes. Everyone makes them. So there’s no need to feel deflated after a few mistakes. What counts is how you come out from that experience and what you do to correct them. Even on the pitch, the best players make costly mistakes. But we’re humans and mistakes will always happen. As an aspiring footballer, you must learn from your mistakes and try to make better choices as you progress in your career.

  10. Do Something Amazing in Every Game: Always enter a game looking to do something amazing. This is not an encouragement to showboat; far from it. Sometimes, all you need to make a lasting impression is a clean tackle, a goal-line clearance, a perfectly weighted through ball, or a good goal. Here’s the trick: when you expect to do something amazing, you carry a different kind of hunger and confidence into a game. It makes you set high standards for yourself. Sometimes, that hunger is the difference between a Cristiano Ronaldo and a 26 yr old who is playing Sunday league football.
